Anil Kapoor’s elder daughter Sonam Kapoor has enrolled herself in an acting course in New York this summer. Maybe perhaps it’s her way of beating the Mumbai heat or taking a break away from the offers or the lack of offers in Bollywood…whatever Or then maybe she’s realized she needs to hone her acting skills a bit more before embarking on her home production, Ayesha.
No one really knows the exact reason behind her decision to join the acting classes but it is learnt that it is going to be a crash course for a few weeks and that she will be renting an apartment in plush Manhattan while she does her studies.
Our source close to the Delhi-6 girl also revealed that Sonam’s US based friends who studied with her in Boston earlier will also be staying with her in New York while she is there and the girls have planned to make the most of it.
One person not happy with Sonam’s plans is daddy Anil Kapoor. It is learnt that he hasn’t been too happy with his daughter’s decision as he wanted her to stay put in Mumbai and make her presence felt being constantly in sight of the makers and sign on more projects. But Sonam would have none of it and has made up her mind.

Anil Kapoor is a strict dad and this is the reason why Sonam Kapoor was grounded after she returned home late at night.
A source reveals, “When it comes to his children, Anil Kapoor is a disciplinarian and has set rules and regulations for them. And the obedient children always abide by them. But recently Sonam reached home at about 4 a.m., after an outing with her friends. This did not go down too well with her dad and he reprimanded her and imposed a penalty - that she be grounded at home for the next one month, barring her professional commitments . And the child has taken the punishment without any protest.”
Anil is quite disciplined and protective about his kids, as the source adds, “Sonam is always guarded by two security escorts wherever she steps out of the house. Anil knows the ways of the industry and is very protective of his girl. “
However there was no confirmation from Sonam’s side about the story as she just said, ” I am always on time.”

According to the sources Rhea will be the official producer of a women oriented film Ayesha. The slender beauty Sonam Kapoor got to share her Sunday activities recently. She said that her three dogs lick her out of her sleep every morning while Peanut butter toast and cup of coffee along with newspaper is the first thing in morning. She loves to have heavy brunch and so she orders it Saturday night, the menu depends on her mood. Sonam loves to read and has the habit of reading more than one book. She would spend time with family and friends and play chess before retiring for the day.

Sonam was born on June 9, 1985 in Chembur, Bombay, India in the Kapoor family, which consists of Punjabi-speaking dad, Anil, Sindhi-speaking mom, Sunita (nee Bhambhani), sister, Rhea and brother, Harshwardhana. She is the niece of film-maker Boney Kapoor, and actor, Sanjay Kapoor. The family has good connections within the Indian movie industry commonly known as Bollywood. Boney's wife is noted yesteryear film actress Sridevi. Her cousin, Arjun, Boney's son is an up and coming movie director.
